Solar Impulse 2 touches down in Arizona: Pioneering solar-powered plane completes the San Francisco to Phoenix leg of its round-the-world flight

  • The experimental solar powered plane has successfully completed the 10th leg of its round-the-world journey
  • Swiss pilot Andre Borschberg flew this leg of the journey, from San Francisco in California to Phoenix, Arizona
  • Solar impulse was in the air for a total of 15 hours and 52 minutes, with the aircraft landing at 8.55 pm local time

Solar-powered Impulse 2 makes maiden flight: Eco-friendly aeroplane set to fly around the world next year

The Solar Impulse 2 HB-SIB took off from Payerne airbase in Switzerland today and successfully soared above the clouds for over an hour before landing safely.
