Rotterdam is chilly. From November until about the end of April, the city’s average temperature hovers between 1°C and 5°C (34°F – 41°F). The problem for many, however, isn’t the cold so much as the darkness, the wetness and the wind. Có lẽ chưa bao giờ nhân loại kỷ niệm Đại cách mạng Pháp 1789 trong một thế giới nhiều biến động và đã nảy sinh một cục diện với nhiều đe doạ mới khiến người ta phải tô đậm trên nền trời khẩu hiệu: “Tự do – Bình đẳng – Bác ái” vốn bền vững của Cách mạng Pháp 1789 như lúc này. Và, với Việt Nam chúng ta thì, câu nói nổi tiếng của một lãnh tụ cách mạng 1789 là Marat lại vô cùng có tính thời sự, có ý nghĩa sống còn như lúc này: Người ta lớn bởi vì anh quỳ xuống! (On est grand parce-que vous vous mettez à genoux).

C'est le quartorze juillet and France is celebrating.

In July 1789, crowds of Parisians stormed the infamous French prison — the Bastille — signifying the beginning of the French Revolution, the end of Louis XVI's reign over France and future independence.

On July 14, 1790, France commemorated the first anniversary of the storming of the Bastille with the fête de la fédération, which has now become known as the fête nationale for the French or Bastille Day for foreigners.

Từ nhiều tuần nay, các học giả, nhà nghiên cứu, chính trị gia, luật gia nói viết nhiều về công điện Phạm Văn Đồng ký và gửi ngày 14/9/1958 cho Thủ tướng Trung Quốc Chu Ân Lai liên quan tới lời tuyên bố của Trung Quốc ngày 4/9/1958 về bề rộng lãnh hải của nước Cộng Hòa Nhân Dân Trung Quốc nới rộng là 12 hải lý bao gồm lãnh thổ trên đất liền và các hải đảo ngoài khơi, Đài Loan và quần đảo Bành Hồ, quần đảo Đông Sa, quần đảo Tây Sa (Xisha tức Hoàng Sa), quần đảo Trung Sa, quần đảo Nam Sa (Nansha tức Trường Sa).

Điều tuyên bố trên của Trung Quốc về việc nới rộng biển đảo ra 12 hải lý hoàn toàn phù hợp với đề nghị của Hội Nghị Quốc Tế về luật biển họp tại Genève từ ngày 24-2 đến 29-4-1958.

The current confrontation in Gaza began June 12 after three Israeli teenagers disappeared in the West Bank the month before. Israel announced the disappearance June 13, shortly thereafter placing blame on Hamas for the kidnappings. On June 14, Hamas fired three rockets into the Hof Ashkelon region. This was followed by Israeli attacks on Palestinians in the Jerusalem region. On July 8, the Israelis announced Operation Protective Edge and began calling up reservists. Hamas launched a longer-range rocket at Tel Aviv. Israel then increased its airstrikes against targets in Gaza.
