Are YOU brave enough? 918ft high and a GLASS floor - new vertigo-inducing Glacier Skywalk opens in the Canadian Rockies
It's one to avoid if you've not got a head for heights.
The
new 918ft-high, glass-floored viewing platform, boasting stunning views
of the Canadian Rockies, is set to open to the public on May 1.
The
£12.5m Glacier Skywalk has been billed as a 'one-of-a-kind interpretive
experience', jutting 100ft from the Alberta rocks, allowing tourists to
walk out over Jasper National Park.

The
vertigo-inducing U-shaped platform above the Sunwapta Valley gives
visitors a bird's eye view of glaciers, mountain crags and wildlife
along the cliffs below.
On
its website, the skywalk says: 'Feed your adrenaline and step into a
breathtaking world where glaciers rest above and birds soar below.
'Experience
waterfalls, wildlife, fossils and more on an exiting cliff-edge walkway
that leads to a platform where glass is all that separates your from a
918-foot drop.
'Welcome to the all-new Glacier Skywalk in the heart of the Canadian Rockies!'

Visitors
braving the new attraction are promised 'breath-taking views,
interpretive story-telling and adrenaline-pumping excitement'.
The
website adds: 'Look down and you’ll see hints from life thousands of
years ago. Look up and you’ll see the most stunning alpine and glacial
vistas.
'Look
around and you’ll discover one of the most unique ecosystems in the
world; a place where it’s so hard to survive that adaptation never
stops.'
The
eco-friendly Glacier Skywalk's steel, glass and wood construction are
designed to blend into the natural landscape - and it won its first
architectural award in 2011.

The structure operates on solar power, and a free shuttle takes guests to the skywalk from the Columbia Icefield Glacier Discovery Center.
Tickets cost £15 for adults, £7.50 for children.
Brewster's interim president David McKenna said: 'We are very excited to be opening the Glacier Skywalk on May 1.
'This is a Canadian project to be proud of.'
